It's 2009 and I am joining Facebook. And if you are reading this I assume I will be receiving your invitation to befriend me very shortly

It's New Year's Day and instead of reflecting on the year past and forming resolutions for the coming year, I am..... joining Facebook. I held out as long as I could, knowing I would succumb to hours of trying to discern if I know people from a postage stamp sized picture in which their head is approximately 3 mm, but I gave in out of boredom. I am home alone, glued to the house because my baby refused to nap all day and then crashed at 4:45 p.m. for the night. So while the rest of the family stuffs themselves with lasagna at my parents' house, I bask in the bluish glow of my monitor and cruise for old acquaintances.

It turns out I actually joined Facebook a long time ago, I just never actually posted anything on my profile. And for some reason it said my hometown was Anchorage, Alaska- must just be the default setting- and so some have e-mailed me to tell me I had a fellow Saskia Kendziera living across the country. Nope. Turns out it was just me. The only Saskia Kendziera around. After a lifetime of enduring the most wild bastardizations of my moniker (my grandma didn't even say my name correctly, may she rest in peace), there is one upside: that user name is never taken.
