Countdown to Frankie's Fourth Birthday: 10 days

A few weeks ago, I was cleaning the kitchen and Frankie wanted to help, as she usually does. She loves to be involved in the cooking process and wants more than anything to make things entirely by herself. At this moment, we were mindlessly wiping counters down when she said "Mom, I'm going to marry Elliott." "That would be fine," I said,"as long as he really loves you and as long as he really loves the Lord Jesus."

She was quiet for a minute thinking about that and then said "I really love and believe in the Lord Jesus."

"What do you believe about Him?," I asked.

"That He died so that our sins can be washed away."

"Are you a sinner?," I asked her.

"Yes, I do lots of sins. So does everybody."

"Did you know, Frankie, that you can pray and ask Jesus to forgive all your sins and He is able to do it?"

"Let's do it right now, Mom."

So we sank to our knees, dishrags in hand, and I knelt next to my three-year-old as she thanked Jesus for dying on the cross, so that her sins could be forgiven and He could be with her always, helping her, guiding her, loving her.

As I rose with teary eyes and a full heart, Frankie rose a forgiven girl. Or at least a girl planted with the seeds of salvation that Christ Himself will water and tend and bring to fruition.

While I pondered her eternal soul, the newly cleansed had but one request: "Is there a new Mickey Mouse Clubhouse I can watch?."

Seeds. Little powerful permanent seeds of truth.

Such a precious privilege to point our little ones to Jesus! What a wonderful day--you'll always remember it. :)
